Plainfield North football completes record season with state berth

A 26-13 loss to East St. Louis in the Class 7A IHSA state championship game didn’t tell the whole story for Plainfield North. Shook, Wildcats advance to sectional final before falling

Plainfield Central went through the Southwest Prairie Conference undefeated and made it to the Romeoville Sectional final, the second sectional final in three years, before bowing out to state runner-up Minooka. The Wildcats had defeated the Indians in straight sets earlier in the year before falling in straight sets in the sectional final. Throughout the season the Wildcats were led by Ashley Shook, who earned numerous Player of the Year honors and is headed to the University of Texas.

Freshman Davis earns All-State spot

It was another successful season for Plainfield swimming as it qualified seven events to the state meet. At state, it was Jessica Davis, a freshman, who led the way, finishing eighth in the state in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.97 to earn all-state honors. Davis came within a half second of advancing to finals in the 200 as well, coming in 15th place with a time of 1:53.39. There was history made in cross country as Plainfield North became the first girls cross country team to advance to state in District 202 history. At state the Tigers took 24th. Competing at state were Megan Patton (17:39, 42nd), Juliana Stogsdill (17:43, 47th), Lauren Super (19:22, 188th), Emily Bedford (19:25, 189th), Brittany Drag (19:41, 200th), Mariam Hussain (20:05, 205th) and Cami Dastrup (20:40, 209th).
