Adkins retires from coaching at Plainfield East after winning 2 regional titles

The only coach in program history is leaving his post at Plainfield East. Boys basketball coach Branden Adkins is retiring from coaching after a run at East which included being the only program in District 202 boys basketball history to win multiple regional championships. “We won two conference championships and two regional championships,” Adkins said. “I’m proud of what we accomplished here from the bottom up. Plainfield East kept it close for three quarters, but eventually the Neuqua Valley experience took over Monday night in a 68-49 win in a Plainfield North Regional quarterfinal. The Bengals trailed just 25-22 at the half and it was 35-33 midway through the third quarter. The Wildcats opened the lead to nine points at 42-33 but East made it 42-37 after three.
